@Rundvelt this was a silly bet imo. A sailboat can sail faster than the wind. So why would you bet that this vehicle cannot?

This was a really silly bet. Even a sailboat can go faster than the wind . It cannot sail indefinitely just like neither can this vehicle

@innocentbystander3317 except they claiming it can drive" indefinitely". Just like a sailboat this car can go faster than the wind but it cannot sail unlimited distance 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷

@daveinwla6360 they claim it can drive indefinitely but that I would consider betting 10k against that's not possible imo. My point is If a sailboat can do it obviously it's not far fetched

@daveinwla6360 you're not gonna let me slide on that lol. Yes that's correct what you keep saying, a sailboat cannot sail faster than wind going directly into wind or with it. So how about I use a wind turbine as better example. A wind turbine uses the wind to get the blades spinning. The blades will spin at about 55mph but the wind isn't 55 mph. Silly bet imo, I think they just wanted attention. And I'm not convinced this test on treadmill is accurate

@daveinwla6360 I'm not expert but this imo is also like a prop plane .Instead of fuel it uses the rotation of wheels to get the propeller spinning. But using a treadmill is a broken experiment , the treadmill is now powering the wheels of vehicle right? Without doing any real research it's hardly far fetched that a prop vehicle can go faster than wind the way this is built.

@innocentbystander3317 I misheard them, I thought they were claiming this this could drive forever. So sorry to disturb the delicate genius with my stupidity. Me deepest apologies 😂

@daveinwla6360 forget the sailboat analogy ,I just used that as example that its possible to pass the wind speed with using only the wind. Correct It isn't at all how blackbird works I agree and they can't go faster in boat going upwind or down. I've watched the entire video clearly now and I believe I get it. But it's still similar to a prop plane it just uses wheels for power instead of fuel .or like a wind turbine in the way that the blades spin faster. It's all about gear ratio literally. I don't understand why the professor was so convinced that this was impossible that's what I'm not getting. Maybe 10 k is a drop in bucket to him and it's just for fun/ or attention

@daveinwla6360 have you watched the other video on this vehicle? I just did and they actually address my sailboat analogy in detail so I don't feel quite as silly. If I were to say it's similar to how a autogyro develops lift from gravity and everything depends on gear ratios would that be correct? Trying to understand this fan better and this vehicle is very misleading at first glance I admit.
