The jury got it wrong. She should have been convicted of manslaughter and given 10 years with the possibility of parole after 5.

@alexzandria6803 So she shot him by mistaking him for an intruder. There was no callousness not premeditation in her shooting him. What she perceived was and intruder in her apartment. She testified that she only shot when he got up. It was a mistake. She was tired and had just finished her shift. Should she go free? No she should serve a minimum of 5 years and be released. No need to make this more than what it really is. When the jury convicted her of murder they made a mistake. If they convicted her of murder, then the sentence should have been harsher i.e. 20 years minimum.

@alexzandria6803 Her tiredness was a mitigating factor in this case. No one is excusing what she did but she shot because she honestly thought he was in her apartment. This is what manslaughter is.

@yvettesaunders6427 It still would have been a case of manslaughter and the ex officer would have received a 10 year sentence with the possibility of parole after 5 years.
