Hindsight is always 20/20. It was Ahmaud not Travis that initiated the assault. The weapon was fired by Travis when both were struggling over the gun. Both men may be acquitted.

@johnwhite345 Agreed however it was Ahmaud that initiated the assault not the other way round. Therefore Travis had the right to self defence. We shall see what the outcome is.

@sumyungguy88 Who lunged at the shotgun first? Ahmaud did. Therefore Travis will claim self defence because if Ahmaud wrestled the gun away from him he would have shot Travis, and Travis would have been the one dead on the street. This is a tough case to prosecute. They were going by an antiquated law that states they had the right to apprehend a suspect. I'll be watching the trial with interest.
3
@sumyungguy88 Nonetheless they tried to detain him and the shooting only happened when Ahmaud went for the gun.

@sumyungguy88 No clan love here. I just saw the video and noticed that not one shot was fired till Ahmaud went for Travis' gun.

@sumyungguy88 They were acting on an antiquated law that gives permission for civilians to detain suspects.

It is a case of self defence. Note that the assault was initiated by Ahmaud not Travis. The gun was fired when they were struggling over the gun. I think both men may be acquitted.

They were going of the Georgia law that states that citizens can detain someone suspected of a crime. It is a case of self defence. Note that the assault was initiated by Ahmaud not Travis. The gun was fired when they were struggling over the gun. I think both men may be acquitted.

@peeweemathis4253 He wasn't shot while jogging. He was shot when he tried to wrestle the gun out of Travis' hands. Travis had the right to self defence so I think he will be acquitted.

@peeweemathis4253 Watch the video again. Who initiated the struggle over the gun? It was Ahmaud. I have a feeling that they might get convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
1
If you look at the video it was Ahmaud that initiated the struggle not the other way round. The defence will try and show that the shooting was done in self defence and that Travis was in fear for his life.

@cynthiam3943 When did the shots take place? When Ahmaud was trying to wrestle the gun away from Travis. Therefore it could be argued that Travis had the right to self defence.
1
@cynthiam3943 When Ahmaud went for the gun Travis had the right to self defence. If Ahmaud had wrestled the gun away from Travis, the roles would have been reversed and Travis would be the one lying in the middle of the street with a hole in his chest.

@johnwhite345 I think the State proving a murder conviction will be hard. It is more likely that they'll get a manslaughter conviction.
1
@mr.lucien2876 They had the right to detain him. He was shot in self defence. All three men are innocent.
1
@alfredindy8058 The three men had the right to detain and arrest Ahmaud on suspicion of theft.
1
@Bandhead07 Ahmaud made a bee line towards the gun. The men had the right to detain him.
1
@Bandhead07 Remember Ahmaud is under the jail. ;)
1
@Bandhead07 You are blinded to the truth. The three men are innocent according to the law.
1
@Bandhead07 According to the law they were justified. Go and read the law.
1
@Bandhead07 No you're believing lies. Read the law for yourself and come to truth. Innocent men are incarcerated in prison every year.
1
@justice4896 You must be an ignorant person who didn't read the law.
1
@michaelthompson7419 Based on the law the three men are innocent.
1
@justice4896 You are deceived my friend.
1
@Bandhead07 No. According to the law these men were innocent.
1
@michaelthompson7419 I stand by my analysis. The three men are innocent.
1
@michaelthompson7419 No. Travis and Greg had the right to detain Ahmaud on suspicion of burglary.

@underdog7495 Ahmaud could have just kept running on the right side of the street but once he attacked Travis and tried to pull the gun out of his hands, both men had the right of self defence.
1
@underdog7495 Fair point. We'll see how the jury votes. This trial might end up with a hung jury.

@Bandhead07 No I'm right according to the law.
