  1. To send the idiot Kummetz was the first failure of the SKL, 2nd was to forbid any risk. No risk, no fun. At 3rd to send surface vessels in wintertime & arctic night, was a useless measure without a proper radar, too. In Winter those ships would have been more effective in the mediterranean to finish Gibraltar or Malta. But in the strategic result the war was totally useless, Germany lost the third part of it's territory & maybe 15 mio. people till 1948. And the Brits lost the empire, any global impact & a destroyed Europe, after 2 British fool's wars, lost it's strong position to the US & the Sovietunion. Churchill was, of course, the greatest bonehead in human history.
