It is very simple the Germanics could fight back the Roman invaders, France (Gaul) and Britain not. That means, Brits and Frenchies lost their identity. The Germanics kept the language. The Franconians were pure Germanics and ruled the Gallo-Roman Frenchies. Why timeline is not producing a documentary about the British crimes in history? The Royal Navy caused more than 20 holodomors with around 80 mio. victims. After the Romans left, the Anglo-Saxon tribes infiltrated Britain in around hundred years. They talked Germanic dialects. After 1066, 200 Norman nobles replaced 3.000 Anglo-Saxon nobles. The Normans talked French. We do not know Richard Lionheart Plantagenet could talk in English at all. From our historical point of view there are some funny coincidences. The word City is Latin, Town Westphalian, it means Zaun (a fence around a settlement). The word Window is Westphalian, too, it means Windooch or Windeye, whereas the Germans say "Fenster", which is Latin and comes from fenestra. So we can dissect each word to analyse it's heritage.
