  12. You're forgetting the elephant in the room. The court recently gave your leader a carte blanche to do anything he wants with impunity. And he already had the power to pardon anyone else the courts convict. Your goose is cooked.

  15. The majority of congress is substantially made up of those (a) sympathetic to the current ruler, (b) whose voters are and will vote them out next election if they don't tow the line, and (c) who fear the party will disown them if they exercise their power.
