They didn't see it coming because they protected themselves from reality by being in a bubble. "Don't confuse reality" It is good advice to prove your belief with facts and against opposing arguments, but the sentiment is laughable coming from someone that supports this SJW "you can taste words" emotional liberal video nonsense.
