What a nightmare. Not that she is anywhere near correct, but that she thinks she is solving any real problem. Colonialism on the internet? How delusional can you get? Notice how desperate they are to control the internet? They hate what they can't control.

Yeah, it's not like you can already see things on a pc monitor and visit virtual spaces and meetings.

@technolus5742 We already have facetime, which is real time face to face talking. Let me know when you have the Holodeck from Star Trek, THEN I'll be impressed. I never said VR couldn't have a place in our modern world, but the things listed by the original comment were absurd considering they already exist with normal tech.

I'm not even sure she was talking about Facebook's Metaverse at all.

@niccolom You aren't there in first person, your avatar is not you, just a representation of you. Camera angles can show me any of the angles you are talking about. 360 degrees.

@niccolom Just like it doesn't matter if I'm wearing VR headset or controlling my view in a 360 camera from desktop pc monitor. It's basically the same experience. There are still reasons to shop in person. If you need the item immediately, or if you need to try on clothes to make sure they fit. Then you don't understand technology, or you are talking about something different than what I am talking about. YouTube already has the tech to show 360 camera streams and video.
