@GodsAutobiography Not really. One works like this > and the other works like this <. I don't have a problem with it assuming gov't is kept out of it. That is hard to do if you are pushing new things into the education system.

So you want war against China and developing countries that don't recycle their plastic?

@GodsAutobiography Elementary deduction, my dear Watson. There is no law that does not have the threat of force behind it. "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force" Or you could have reasoned that a question was just a question, or that it was meant for provoking thought.

@JP-sm4cs As I understand it, that arrangement is no longer in place. Nor would that take responsibility off of them if they dump it in the ocean instead of proper recycling.

@GodsAutobiography Then why did they ban straws in CA?

@GodsAutobiography But you said it doesn't require a law. When people say "we need to do something" it usually means they want gov't to do something, which means we get a new law.

@GodsAutobiography So in your mind 10% discounts the 90%. I beg to differ. It is irrelevant that something can be done without gov't if it usually never happens without laws and people begging for new laws.

@GodsAutobiography Apples and oranges. That is different people coming to the same personal choice. I don't find that comparable to a societal call to action.
