As an American, I feel it needs to be said that both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were NOT necessary. It wasn't necessary to keep pushing the war onto more of their land, so the excuse that having more war on land would cost many more lives is not legitimate. Japan was already near the end of their capacity to put up any fight, it was only the insistence that their surrender be unconditional and thereby threaten the Emperor that caused the fighting to continue.

@alexkojic695 None of those desires justify our terrorism and killing of innocents on a scale never seen before. And not recognizing surrender and at least halting the war for peace talks should be considered a war crime.
