So how many hours does it take to replace the tensioner?

If the tensioner would be made of metal, they would grind the chains and cause metal flakes in the oil.

@speedkar99 A internal wire mesh could may be prevent a breaking, but the Audi and also Mercedes workshops usually tell their customer that the cains and tensioner should be replaced above a certain milage. But many owner decide to sell their car at that milage rather than investing the money into the cars. The new owner usually have not the money for this service and therefore they drive the car until the engine is rumbling like a stone breaker.
