Trader Joe is Aldi and this since 1979. Aldi are two companies, Aldi South and Aldi North. The Aldi founder (two borthers) had a twist and and divided the company between them in north and south (of Germany). Both Aldi companies are also on the US market. Trader Joe is owned by Aldi North and Aldi South operates in the US as Aldi.
Aldi North is in: Germany, USA (via Trader Joe´s), Belgium, France, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain,
Aldi South is in: Germany, USA, UK, Australia, China, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Slowenia, Hungary (Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets are also Aldi South.)
The two Aldi brothers have died and the heirs are currently in negotiations to join Aldi South and Aldi North in one Aldi company again.
