  1. Germany's coasts border the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. I think a maritime patrol aircraft based on the A400M would make more sense, as it is more maneuverable in those areas.

  2. The German Government still had problems to land with the A340 on some airports. In one case Merkel had to return to Berlin and switch from a A340 to a A310 as the Airport Ulanbator in Mongolia was not certified for a A340. A380 is only certified for a few large airports and there fore to large. Flight in Germany are also mostly done by Global Express, wich can operate on local airports. Quick in, quick out and max security. The Chancelery in Berlin has also Heli-Ports for the way to the airport (no traffic jam) so the chancler can make the most of the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoIYVm02Etg
