  1. The reason for SOFTLIMITER is the engine temperature and cooling. If you rev up the car while driving, the air flow on the radiator grille cools the cooling water. If the car is revved up while stationary, there is no air flow to cool the cooling system and thus the engine can overheat. There were really idiots who kept revving their engine until it overheated and claiming it was under warranty. To prevent such idiots from breaking engines, there is a soft limiter.
