  2. The softlimiter are to prevent some idiots from overheating the engine. Even on a Dyno are massive cooling fans installed to cool the engine as there is no moving air flow into the cooling system. If you spinn up a large engine without air flow for cooling, the engine will quickly overheat. There is eg a video at YT were a idiot constantly revs up a AMG C63 till the engine overheated and blew of.
