  1. In Germany it´s called a Wintergarten. It was popular aprox. 30-40 years ago, but today dated. Some house of this time still have one, bu the most have been removed. They proved to be impractical for German latitudes - it was either too cold or too warm there. In summer it gets unbearably hot inside. The German standard is a large extendable awning for sun protection. This way no heat builds up.
