  1. From a business perspective, the advantages of the Scania* are not primarily comfort, but low maintenance, reliability and especially fuel consumption. The built-in safety features also usually reduce insurance costs. In the transport business, the cost per mile counts, because the customer only pays per mile. *Also Mercedes Actros wich has even more focus on fuel efficency.

  2. There are two main reasons for the European truck design: a) In Europe counts the max lenght of a truck + trailer, unlike in the US were only the trailer lenght counts. b) Many European cities still have the narrow medieval street design, so a truck needs to be more maneuverable there.

  5. There are a lot of moose in Sweden and Scania can get by without moose pushers there, and probably even less so in the USA.

  6. In Germany there are also income-related penalties, but only for criminal offenses. There, a day's income is used as the penalty. The maximum is normally 120 daily rates, after which you go to prison. From 90 onwards you are considered to have a previous conviction.
