Oil filters are completely overrated, as is expensive OEM engine oil, and old frying oil is free at McDonalds. 😜

The real giant is the Mercedes-Benz M279 V12 bi-turbo engine. The engine is limited to 1.000 NM to prevent the differential from being destroyed. Without the limiter the car is at 1,400+ NM (over 1,000 ft-lbs).

The only part of the engine that is still usable is the water pump. But if you remove an engine to get to the water pump, you'll also install a new one. The rest belongs to the scrap parts, even the housing is probably already warped.

No service book, no correct service intervals = no warranty. Thats the rules.

The Porsche flat six is statistically the most reliable sports car engiine. This engine only failed because an amateur messed with it. An original Porsche workshop would never have made this mistake (Use so much false sealant that it squeezes into the engine and clogs the internal oil lines.) The Porsche flat six is rock solid and you take the stock car to any track and race round after round without any overheating or other problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNjuEJI2ZFE

38:08 shows the reason, silicon debris inside the engine wich clogged the oil supply. Some think more sealant helps more, but in reality it kills the engine

This damage is still known, but easy to avoid by obeying just 3. simple rules. 1. Obey the demanded oil change intervals 2. Only use the certified oil 3. Don´t stress the engine if cold All this 3 factors cause a poor lubrication and as result the camshaft than grinds the head of the valve caps off.

The motor was just poor maintained or driven by a total idiot.

The broken water pump is not a problem, it should NEVER be replaced with used parts anyway. Defective water pumps were the main cause of death for the 2.0 - 2.5l VAG (VW/Audi) engines back then. If you have an engine out, you obviously put a new water pump in.
