Small children rarely get injured on playgrounds; there are far more dangers in the home. Children's bones are not yet properly developed and have cartilage, which prevents them from breaking. However, there are hot, sharp, poisonous and electrical things in the home. In US households there are even often firearms that are accessible to children. All of this is much more dangerous than a playground, at least statistically.

Aprox. 2 months ago a US female (Ashley Summers) drunk herself to death. She was a bit dehydrated and drunk water like crazy to compensate it. This even affected the salt-water level in her blood and caused a sudden death. Germany had in the past very low rents for appartments and houses, this made renting verry attractive and a house or appartment ownership made no profit, houses also often lost value. Many older in my family have build a house, but they live now (in their 70´s) in a appartment and rent out their house insted of selling them. Their kids have own families and taking care of a house with a garden is now replaced by intense traveling.

The main reason why your ancestrors (and many other) emigrated is usually the following. They have not been the 1st born son. Only the 1st born son inherited the family business or farm. The younger sons got some cash as legacy. With that cash they had to decicede were to start a life. They could invest it into a local future or they heard that they coud get a lot of cheap land for it in the USA and start there a own farm or business. In the South of Germany the farm was often split among the sons, this caused very small farms and poor farmer, as they could not realy live from that little farm.

The mayor of the municipality (in Germany, 15,000 inhabitants) where my parents live has caused a budget crisis. He started a major road renovation (road + sidewalk) and thought he could make the residents of the street pay for it. However, there is now a court ruling on this from a high court. The residents can only contribute to the costs if they are the sole beneficiaries of the road. As soon as the road is part of the general traffic plan, the residents are exempt from additional payments.

The Deutsche Bahn has cancelled the night trains, because the most people with kids travel by car and the other take a often cheaper flight wich is alos mostyl done in ca. 1 hour. I fly inside Germany often and some propeller flight conncetions are also adventure - esp. with a De Havilland DHC-8 were everything is rattling. (I should buy a rosary and pray for a save landing)

I use earth warmth for my house. A company has drilled very deep in my backyard to get warm (circuit) water from there wich is with a heat exchanger heated up to 70° C. I only pay the bill for the electric power of the pumps. This was a hughe investment at the installation, but with the actual gas/oil/energy prices i am much quicker break even than i thought. As for AC, i only use ony in my Bedroom in very hot summer nights to get my neeeded amount of sleep - as it is my house i could also drill the AC exhaust hole.

The bananas for €2.49 had the label "Bio", wich means they are out of a certified "Bio" plantation wich uses no pesticides, etc.. The US pendant for "Bio" is "organic" and organic fruits and vegetables cost in the USA 3-5 times the money of non organic (standard) food. €9,90/kg also still the current standard price for Chicken Breast at the most German discounter. REWE is like EDEKA generally more expensive than the other discounter. No one with a family does their weekly shopping there, single people buy a pizza or a bit of cheese there.

TIP: The most speed tickets are made by the Police and the measuring is only court valid if the Police officer has a special instruction on the measuring device. So if you get a point relevant speeding ticket, you ask for the legal certificate of the measuring person. The measuring person need a certificate from the producer or a other certified instance that he is able to make correct measurement with the exact mentioned measuring device. Without the certificate for the person and specific device, the measurement is invalid. I have often asked for this certificate after a ticket and never ever heard again from them. The Phrase in German: "Bitte teilen Sie mir mit wann die Person, welche meine Geschwindigkeitsmessung vorgenommen hat, eine durch den Hersteller oder seitens des Herstellers zertifizierte Stelle, qualifizierte Einweisung in das erwähnte Gerät XY000 bekommen hat. The airing topic is not that serious. The average Germans usually ventilates if needed. The kitchen and bathroom may need airing after shower, bathing or cooking. The bedroom should be ventilated after sleeping in the morning - fresh air in the bedroom is no luxurious it is healthy. The humidity is always attracted to the most cold room if the doors are open and there could be a regular airing be usefull to prevent mold. The kitchen topic is also different from state to state. In some German states you get a build in kitchen as standard in other not. Also the apartment size is a factor, small or single apartments have mostly a kitchen. A buildin kitchen means also mostly a higher rental - so if you plan to stay longer in the apartment you choose one without kitchen and for a short stay you choose an apartment with included kitchen.
