this is a trend across the world over. the period from 1960-1980 were prosperous times for people but they had no desire to continue said times for their future children, so when they came to power in the 80s, everything was set on short-sighted goals, not long term sustainability. We are currently undergoing this in the US as we are still having to deal with the effects of Reagan's deregulation of many industries and services, as well as the bi-partisan NAFTA agreements.

@gregh7457 its so funny when people post how technology sucks... on YouTube
7
doesnt excuse poor treatment of SW; they can learn a thing or two from other countries on how to deal with abusive clients
7
its funny how you phrased yourself as an expat but wordeded other people as "invading"
6
@idleeidolon a lot of japan's problems today are often because of the decisions the older "wiser" generations in power have made and continue to make. the kids wont learn any better.
6
@Basedapple they dont respect their home country's rules why would you think they can respect Japan's?

@mediocreman2 i work in healthcare and i mentor people younger than me. I'm also the oldest out of 4. you don't need to brag about helping people to realize that young people all over the world are angry and upset at the economic policies set forth by generations past are now going to harm them as they grow up into the future. I dunno where you live but where I am many of my peers and myself have resigned the fact we can ever afford a home where we grew up because of skyrocketing housing prices and wages that won't keep up, for starters.

@manuelmacalinao500 except the largest groups of tourists are usually Chinese....
4
I wouldnt mind paying $100 extra on top of a ticket+other expenses in japan if it meant the locals could provide better services from me
2
"temple of humanity" lol did you get chatgpt to write this?
2
tbh a good deal of Japanese people are stuck in bubble economy era mindset where they think Japan has no competition....
2
@krunkle5136 the japanese LOVE american culture already though
1
relatable, but i still get the "where are you REALLY from" question
1
@jondo3817 its the perpetual foreigner dilemma. Unless you look (and talk) like a white person who grew up in the suburbs you will always be subject to that kinda question
1
@krissydiggs japan is run by senile boomers, who rely on other senile boomers to keep them in power.
1
nice try but most of the tourists by far and large are from east Asia
1
say no more! mongolia is super cool
1
God wont save Japan's shitty work ethic or the lack of pay.
1
prety much this. the US is not the only country that has figured out the benefits of trash cans @TheIshmael98
1
how does thailand deal with tourism better than japan if they're not raising prices/
1
while this is true, ive also seen a ton of natives littering too. its puzzling how they refuse to add garbage cans for all to use
1
@mhmoran85 because "expats" are sometimes seen as invaders of a foreign country. You are just as much a guest in China, as are the people in Japan that you're whining about
1
@krissydiggs yet the US is the largest market for Japanese cars outside of Japan....
1
@redemissarium i had ti request for a japan made seiko at yodobashi 😭 The chinese ones probably work fine enough but if imma spend money for a seiko it has to be a Japanese one
1
this would filter out like 99% of visitors a lot of foreign residents would have to leave too
1
@mjrhmekssh lol so true. japan being "homogenous" is a western fantasy.
1
im sure the chinese and koreans have something to say about Japan's colonialist behaviors
