I'm so glad that I live in the EU, that actually cares to uphold food safety standards And I'm glad that I live in Sweden, where alcohol is sold by the state, and since the state isn't corrupt to the core, I will never ever get a fake bottle from them.

As someone that builds these kind of buildings in the richest parts of the west, this is a horror show like no other. Its a literal miracle we don't see collapses every day.

Are we even sure it is the same person?! If anyone wouldn't have told me, I would have thought they were two different people..

@stischer47 Since when is it criminal to build high rises and apartment blocks? I think you need to reread that post and reflect a little.

They thought the same thing as Germany with Russia. Wandel durch Handel. Change through trade. Deeper ties lower the chances of war. But Taiwan and Germany forgot that that works only between democracies, and not with dictatorships.
15
There you go! Another 50 cents in your bank account

"Marine water pollution that exceeded the standard 707 times" That's only 70 700% over the limit. It's almost like they are really trying....

My´mothers Xiaomi/Roborock robot sucks like a vacuum cleaner. And has small rotors with bristles to sweep. And then it goes back to the dock and empties itself into an actual dust bag, also while using suction. I bought one of the most expensive models, so it works like intended. Even has radar so no light is needed to map the room.

@markmainprize1371 My biggest question is why you think that when democracy works for the other group of Chinese people, the Taiwanese.
7
@budisuwandhi6818 You mean that Mate 60 that had a fake launch?
6
@pegcity4eva Fiat sucks if you don't do your research. Their 1,3 is bulletproof, and the Panda is an amazing car.
6
@wendyshoowaiching4161 A dictator is always responsible for everything. That's the other side of the coin of being a dictator. Total rule but also total responsibility.
6
@zeed33r If they did, my comment wouldn't exist.
6
But it makes it more funny as said in the video. Chinese copies are really like a misunderstanding ^^
5
@matthewmosier8439 Heck, I follow China way more than the regular western citizen and I haven't even heard about it. But I did hear about that Chinese sub that got caught in their own trap and all 55 sailors died.
5
I buy my shoes from Adidas directly. And it helps if you are not riding the hype train. I mean what is wrong with some Stan Smiths? A classic clean look, and comes in so many versions.
5
@kamsunleong6648 Only consumers. If you have any interest in the tech/hobby/sport, you build your own.
5
@meetoobaa No, we just engineer buildings for a very conservatively calculated 50 year life spann.
4
@DarcyCardinal I'm building in a country far inside the Eurasian plate, so no added regulations for earthquakes, like the Japanese have for example.
3
Trust me, he is not a good choice. Right on China, wrong on so many other things.
3
Sending armed police as a first response to a building collapse is quite rotten.
3
Electrics in vehicles are never easy, looking at you France and Italy, but if powering on the AC leads to the vehicle accelerating, you've got BIG problems.
2
@lisantic Where do you find food in the EU that originated in China? Haven't even seen rice from there
2
Jeeeeesus! All that for a lame joke about stray dogs? The CCP really is fragile
2
@stevenphillips3466 You think the IT crowd is Apple based?! Hahah, that's for creators and people that don't understand tech.
2
To me, I find the original gives much more character, like you are actually getting the scoop. This feels more like an AI or some ASMR thing. It's like she isn't understanding what she is reading, just reading the words in a nice way.
2
Unregulated capitalism is just as idiotic as a planned economy.
2
@tu1469 That is what massive amounts of regulations, and the adherence to them gives you. Totally impossible in China for decades into the future, even if the CCP disappeared tomorrow.
2
@adrienneclarke3953 Designed for 120 years. My guess is 40.
2
Lets not believe all those cellphone videos we are seeing, lets believe this poster saying his wife saw something else...
2
Hahah! The Chinese people are more critical that Americans with Elon Musk and his constant lies Even let Tesla off the hook recently when the autopilot killed and injured a whole family in the US. And here we go about our days laughing at how much scamming goes on in China...
1
@Tamachii12 I gave up my freedom to kill people so I could live in a society, and my god do I feel safer now
1
@Crimerenegade But is it this still going on? While there are sanctions and everything?
1
@Crimerenegade Do you know why Dacia has such a bad rep in Russia? Seen as bad copies of their own Soviet cars?
1
If China threatens the west with WMD's, their economy implodes and a famine comes knocking. Sucks to be a net importer of everything you need to keep the country running.
1
@shadowfilm7980 Most of China's military tech is stolen from Russia. It's literally their backbone.
1
@erikvan9582 Ah, the capital. That terms shouldn't have died out. Brings back memories of the 70s, and reminds me of a song in my country: "Side by side, they are helping each other The government and the capital is sitting in the same boat. But it is not they who row so the sweat is pouring, and the whips don't tickle their fat necks either." Fits like a glove today, just as it did 50 years ago.
1
@finned958 The concept of being an informed consumer is just reaching China
1
@willblack8575 Yeah, because that is how our representative democracy always works right? Remember, Norwegian salmon is one of the most polluted foods out there, and the EU is giving them exemption after exemption so it can be sold to humans. So do you take credit for that too as a European? Of course not. That is corrupted politicians Not thinking about the European citizens, and especially infants, kids and pregnant women. So we are lucky we have the standards we have. Could have been worse, even with us Europeans writing the regulations.
1
@mimireuser5383 The UK will soon not be so much better than the US. You are jumping on to a sinking ship in terms of food safety regulations.
1
@catinthebread Don't like the taste? Or is it the Asian flush?
1
@E.M.S Sweden is not a cashless society. Private businesses may sometimes not accept cash, but the state always does.
1
@a.westenholz4032 The first paragraph is on point, but it's generalities, so my objection would be, why even include the west in that analysis? You have Taiwan, a Chinese state where democracy works like a charm. Better than some western countries mind you. I think that should be the focus. Why Taiwan and not China. And to the second I would just like to point out that there is zero unity in China. Everyone is out for themselves. The cultural memory of famine does that to you. They can't even take care of communal spaces in their own buildings. In my mind, federalization is they way forward. Then you can harness the distrust of the bureaucrats in the capital for something good.
1
@a.westenholz4032 "Nor was the population there used to being governed by authoritarian heavy-handed governments." Taiwan had literally martial law for 39 years. Taiwan went from an authoritarian state to a democracy in less than 20 years. And the ending makes no sense to me. You are arguing that the past imperial rule made it easier to switch to democracy, while they both have the same history. So then it should be easy for mainland China too.
1
@BeezyNgeezY-ul1nu Yeah, interest payments, inflation, maintenance costs, running costs are all not factored into that 470years. It's doomed to fail.
1
I don't think its AI. It's a girl that reads the script someone else wrote for the first time. But I agree. It's not great. A simple read before would do wonders I think. With voice over work, some don't want to pay for the preparation, and just pay for a cold read. Not saying China Observer does this, but its common on Youtube.
1
No, it's just a slow traffic light that held up the cars. That coupled with horrific road design gives you this. Look at the top right corner, there are other people on that same road, just further ahead.
1
@Ромыч-х7и Not a chance. The Robber barons in the US during the 1800s prove that. You need to regulate capitalism hard. Scandinavia 20-30 years ago would be a good example of how it's done.
1
@Ромыч-х7и You don't know history it seems. We have a clear example, the US in the 1800's. A poor person in the Soviet had a much much better life than a poor person in the US during the Robber barons.
1
Oh stop this stupidity. Apple is scamming customers on repairs like no one on this planet. Third party repairs kills that cash cow.
