@daddy_1453 The Kremlin chose that Crimea should join Russia. You can't be this childish to think a vote under armed occupation with no insight is somehow the will of the people.

@отпирайте Russia took Crimea because of basic geopolitics. They need to protect their soft underbelly and have at least one warm water port for their navy. No one is arguing against why it was important to for the Kremlin, paranoid as they are, to take Crimea. But you don't do behave like that in our modern world. That behavior is what gave us WWII, which is kind of ironic in Russia's case being paranoid about the next great war. Russian speakers don't mean anything. That is not the will of the people. That is just a stupid justification. Which is why Russia is handing out passports to Ukrainians, because then they are actual citizens, and the that stupid justification doesn't have to be used anymore. Look at Estonia's eastern part, majority Russian speakers, and literally no one wants to be annexed by Russia. Just because you speak the language you don't automatically mean you want to live in a dictatorship.

@отпирайте Extremes? Authoritarian rule is authoritarian rule. If you want me to say there are worse dictators than Putin then sure, there are. But that makes literally no difference at all. And stop, it's much worse than Ukraine. Ukraine is a hybrid regime on place 79 on the democracy index. Russia is full on authoritarian at place number 129. Big freaking difference. You don't seem to grasp that you can't just say they are Russian, and thus you know the will of the people. That is stupidity times ten. Again, it's so weak of a justification that Russia is throwing out passports to anyone that wants one, so they could have actual justification in the future. But the biggest joke of all is that you lend credibility to a vote under armed occupation with no insight, and boycotted by almost everyone that saw Russia as invaders, which they are.
