@michaelhutchings6602 You can't make that statement halfway. We are in a mass extinction because of them, and it looks like we will not be able to stop the massive losses and even higher expenses to combat the effects of climate change either. Let's see if our civilization survives this first.

@rudyvon5279 Using that kind of small fraction of the earths heat does nothing. The present burning of fossil fuels have accelerated the wandering of the magnetic north, since we have less ice in the arctic.

@rudyvon5279 Stop, just stop. Geothermal energy is renewable. If it isn't then the sun isn't either. The heat earth has is 100 billion times larger than what we as a species need for a year. That is 100 000 000 000 years of power at present energy needs. Stop fearmongering. We are in a mass extinction event and our civilization may not survive. And we should stay away from a renewable source that can power us for tens of thousands of years? Ridiculous. All we need is to find something that works until we can get cold fusion working. EDIT: You know we only have 900 million years left on this planet right? We need to save the life that exists on earth now, because the diversity will never bounce back if we cook the earth.

@namelesskat4814 Such much talk to just say,: either it's catastrophic in 2052, or 2030 depending on what is important to you. Either way we are f*cked if we don't stop using fossil fuels.

@CitsVariants Writing post like that, we all know who is the stupid one here

@Multi407D And? If we destroy our ecosystem which we depend on to live, that civilization will retract to nothing. We are in a mass extinction, that should raise a few eyebrows...

@inigobantok1579 Yeah, keep telling yourself those fairy tales. When you see a graph that looks like a hockey stick, that isn't a mild addition.

@philnightjar1971 Or we in the west can just give them one nuclear plant or two, so they don't have to destroy the earth by burning fossil fuels, just to develop to our level.

@xaviercopeland2789 Based on what, wishful thinking? I would point to the mass extinction, and that our food doesn't grow in supermarkets..

@xaviercopeland2789 Talk about looking at the world with rose tinted glasses. Our way to solve our problems have been to destroy the world around as a little more. That is coming to an end. You can't live over your means forever. Reality will bite back. And with us using resources at the equivalent pace of 2,5 earths, the party will end pretty soon. And we are seeing it, massive people migrations because of habitat destruction due to human activity, local or worldwide.

@trouaconti7812 At least half a century, as they knew themselves in the early 1970's that they are killing the planet, and all life on it.

@catherinedesilets8960 Maybe it's time to read some Gene Sharp and implement his theories? You don't have to have a full fledged dictatorship for his action plan to work.
