  1. Anything up to 1000 is easily botable or exploitable through free codes. You underestimate how easy it is to fiddle the numbers when the publisher can literally print codes for fiddling the figures.

  2. Much the launch numbers and reviews for these games are actually free copies given out to "reviewers". Basically anyone who sends the publisher an email saying they will review their game for a free code. It's a surprising large number these days, usually a few hundred.
