News being boring is why most people under the age of 40 don't watch it. Once you get old however, there seems to be an appeal to vegetating in front of 2 old presenters talking about the news as if it's the most important thing in the world. Never mind that most of it is just political circus or what dumb people did today, never actually incredible things outside of worldwide disasters.
