@yoholmes273 We can sit back and criticize a system created to educate the masses but when it worked it worked fine. The rote rehearsal was meant for grade/grammar school and as the mind advanced the critical thinking came in. It’s why we have(had) the best secondary education system on the planet. How else would you educate your citizens? Doesn’t it make sense to try to give them the same basic foundation?
