  17. Jayce Exactly, I think we can agree on more than a few points. I’ll stop being facetious about this. There are many points to argue about liberty and liberalism. I think the right is unfairly pigeonholed as phobic. The Republican Party was literally created as an answer to the anti slavery and abolitionists in the late 1850’s and early 1860’s. It was based off all men are created equally. I know that during the last century the religious right dominated institutions and change was slow but most Republicans wanted woman’s suffrage and civil rights. So in that sense they were more liberal than their democrat opponents. It’s also been Leary of big gov or gov intervention. Whereas the Dems were more for bigger gov and programs like welfare. I get the argument that the right ya for big business but it really isn’t the entire right. Republicans came up with monopoly laws. So, I guess my confusion comes from each persons actual perspectives on right/left. Because it seems that most people are right in the middle. So, on the Nazi question it doesn’t seem that they had any values that they shared with the American right. Hitler did increase the gov programs like welfare and got rid of privatization of industry. VW is a good example and also the autobahn. The steel industry and even radio were all controlled by the state. Maybe is offensive to have the Nazis on either side of your political spectrum because they’re Nazis but I just don’t see any resemblance to the right. I also don’t see how fascism is a right wing ideology either. The basic tenets of the right are less gov restrictions and intervention but both of these ideologies are based on government tyranny.
