It’s this type of attitude that keeps some of them from speaking out and trapped in a cycle of violence. This issue is a multi factored one and isn’t as easily solved as saying “just be a man.”

Some people are not in the same mental space and cannot stand up for themselves during abusive episodes. It’s not as easy as saying as soon as the abuse starts you leave. Abuse can start in small ways like isolating you from friends and family and then manipulating you mentally by making you feel small and helpless. I’d suggest reading about the cycle of abuse. Almost books/research is about male on female but the concepts still carryover. But by saying what you are saying it’s akin to victim blaming. And we don’t do that because we don’t know everyone’s situation.
