This is one of my biggest issues with the current gun community. They ignore this exact issue. Shall not infringe means exactly that. But there are more laws restricting firearms than all other rights combined. How is that right??

Those are the “radicalized” persons Garland mentioned in his opening. That’s what’s truly frightening. When you view half the country as radicals this is what you get..

@TheSmokegood Actually, it states that those amendments must be applied to all states equally. They are not supposed to be different from state to state. Those original 13 were deemed universal. The 2nd has been attacked since the beginning because certain people fear what they cannot control. But you were able to buy cannons and such from the beginning. Background checks weren’t a thing until the 80’s. Luckily, the Supreme Court has taken the 2nd seriously and made it clear it was an individual right to bear arms.

@TheSmokegood I won’t argue with you there. The south had a very hard time thinking about arming the recently freed slaves. It always shocks the hell out of me that the black community isn’t more pro 2nd. They of all people should know the power that firearms carry and how it is the great equalizer. But, the first challenges against the 2nd came on university campuses. Part of which had something to do with the amount of duels being fought but still.. I do agree with you. I hate how we punish people for their lifetimes when it comes to certain rights. If our justice system works then once that prison term is over it should mean that person served their time. We shouldn’t be punishing them for the rest of their lives. Especially if it was a non violent crime. Even someone’s age at the time of the crime should be taken into consideration. It’s the elitists attitude towards us “lower class” citizens.

Coons is siting the NY post about crime rates. And it’s only due to the mayor not instituting the democrat defunding of the police. They were considered the murder capital of the nation not too long ago. They increased funding (against loud protests from the left) and amazingly it has paid off. Who’d a thought that would happen???
