BH Paradox Ford had some quality issues in the 70’s so they pushed back hard in the 80’s. Their slogan was something like “Quality is job #1.” I’ve had most Brands but I always go back to Ford. The 6.0 had some teething problems at first but it was a different design. Ford had them mostly worked out in the later production trucks. There are a lotta folks that have put a ton of miles on their 6.0’s without the ‘bulletproof’ stuff. The 6.4 also isn’t that bad but it’s definitely not the best. Ford was so disappointed in that engine that they cut ties with international and built their own in-house diesel. That should say something about Ford. Either way, drive want you want but don’t be dissuaded by the Ford haters because Ford still builds the best domestic vehicles.

Warren You had me at High boy. I get what you’re saying to BH but the reality of it is that Ford does build a better vehicle, or did. The 80’s started Ford on a push for quality. For domestics, Ford was on top when it came to build quality. From interiors to frames. Recently all three have caught up to the Foreign market but if you look up reliability ratings the Fords would be the top domestic. Having said that, they all have their problems even Toyota

Not even close. Ford has made some fantastic engines. From the flathead to the FE’s and then the 385 series to the all new 7.3 Godzilla. These are all great engines that Ford actually designed not to mention their small blocks. Even the 4.6 has been a solid reliable engine. The Ford V10 is another solid choice that regularly gets high mileage.

MustangLover 1970 For sure. I kind of glossed over the SBF and didn’t mention any 6’s. Any of Fords in-line 6’s but the 300 is the most popular.
2
MustangLover 1970 Hell yeah. Gotta love those old inline 6’s. We had an old F250 as a work truck with a 300 I6 and it was a workhorse.

MustangLover 1970 Don’t sell the eco boost engines short. I’ve never owned one and may never own one but some people have had really good luck and success with them. That 2.7 is a really good engine and the new 3.0 is said to be really good too
2
MustangLover 1970 The 5.4 is a really good engine if maintained properly. The 4.6 is a great engine. Auto or manual?

Dan S Yeah, I guess his 80 years of experience means nothing...

DEXTER MORGAN Oh man! That brought back some memories. I had to look up those old adverts again to hear that jingle

MustangLover 1970 Oh that sucks. I hate to hear that. The fanboy in my has a hard time admitting that maybe they’re not great. I’ve had a 5.4 3V for years and it’s been just fine even though it’s one of the most trashed on engines.

MustangLover 1970 That will be awesome. Good luck

Dave Do you mean the new 3.0 PS? Or the old Duratec V6’s?

Have you driven a Ford, lately...

Dan S Hilarious. Do you even know when that cute little game started?

This used to be a real thing but now with everything automated, it’s not such a problem. I can still remember the commercial with the marble showing how straight the lines were on new vehicles back in the 80’s

Gerrell Horne What’s your power train? I miss my ‘88

Stephen Galvan I love those old Rangers. We still have a 2011 Ranger in our fleet and it’s one of my favorite vehicles to drive. It’s like getting into a time machine every time I drive it
