A taser can incapacitate you which leaves you in a state of being defenseless. The cop has a duty to protect his firearm from being taken and either used against him or the public. If he gets tased then his firearm is at risk so in every court and every department it is considered lawful to shoot a suspect with a taser or a suspect who has taken your taser. A warning does not have to be given. Each department will have their own policy on how the officer must act during this situation but legally the officer is not required to give a warning or a warning shot. Once lethal force is authorized it is authorized. The officer’s actions are justified by precedent and law. You may have a difference in moral opinion but the law disagrees with you.

@joelnormandin9833 And I can respect that you have a different opinion. But it’s important to know the reasoning behind these policies and laws. That’s all I was trying to relay. Its not my opinion.

@emberfist8347 Not necessarily. It’s due to its incapacitating nature. That’s why it’s seems justified to use lethal force. And officers are trained to shoot center mass. They get in trouble for going against their training and department policy if they shoot elsewhere.

@emberfist8347 I’m not sure what this means but I overgeneralized. In this instance, the officer would be fine to shoot wherever he could to end the threat if center mass wasn’t reasonable. There was an officer in UT that shot a suspect in the leg (on purpose) so he wouldn’t kill her. He was fired for policy and sued

@emberfist8347 Agreed. It’s crazy how people think you can just shoot a bad guy in the pinky toe and you will solve all the deaths. It’s such a weird thing to think
