  1.  @Aryomful  and who and how decides which is owned and shared? Is there a vote? Don't be absurd. French, spanish, Italian Romanian all shared the Roman culture of thier language. We all shared the culture of Egypt by dying clothes with bright colors. Everyone in the world shared the culture of western clothes and shoes. I don't remeber voting on any of that to allow the people of China to wear blue jeans and Nike's. I don't remember Marco Polo needed permission to bring noodles back to Italy and make them part of Italian culture. I could go on all day. Culture has always been shared never owned.

  2.  @Aryomful  Japan wasnt colonized. They chose to adopt European clothes because they chose. Nobody forced them. That's how culture works. People see things they like and adopt them. They see things they don't like and don't adopt them. That's how culture works.

  3. Of course not because America is the center of the universe and everyone should want to be American therefore its bad when any American takes an interest in anything non American. People need to get a life. Culture isn't owned its shared. Thats the whole point of culture. When a culture does something good or interesting others adopt it.

  7. I don't think they're very closeted. Since COVID there's been tons of violence against Asians and just general negativity.

  10. Why am I not surprised when the guy admitted he doesn't speak other languages. Theres such a lot of anti intellectualism going on. "Why would you want to learn another language" kind of mentality is strong here in the states. People get offended if you want to learn another language, especially if isn't not a "white language". I get asked fairly often why I'm learning japanese? Usually in an interested way but somethines like "if it's not for you job why woukd younwant to?" Kind of thing. It's frustrating.

  15. I started learning Japanese a few months ago and youtube has been a big help. Honestly without it I wouldn't have even tried. In America if English is your first language very few speak a second. Not only do they not but a large portion are against the concept of speaking another language. Like "why would you want to learn that?" Like learning is a negative. Unless you're going to make money from it what's the point? What you're doing is normalizing learning languages and I appreciate it.

  16. That's interesting that in Japan the catholic church uses Japanese and not Latin. But in America and Spanish speaking countries at least they use Latin not the common tongue.
