Cejudo's lack of jiu jitsu cost him this fight. I was about to scream at the screen for him to do the d'arce choke and the guillotine choke whenever he had those positions throughout the fight, but he didn't... Could literally have ended like Jon vs Gane or Woodley vs Till...

@madgavin7568 That's just wrestling defense. Cejudo literally has ZERO submission wins in 19 MMA fights now... He clearly lacks in jiu jitsu abilities.

@madgavin7568 Cejudo, Adesanya and Stipe all have ZERO submission wins and are in the same criteria of the lack of submission grappling. Cejudo's jiu jitsu is literally garbage but his wrestling offense and defense is good, which makes it work for him. Cejudo has never tried a submission in 19 MMA fights if I remember it correctly... I don't think he even does any jiu jitsu at all. There are some head lock positions that he knows about only based upon his wrestling experience.

@madgavin7568 Wrestling defensive counters are enough against jiu jitsu, which Cejudo uses through his butterfly guards, which is amongst the basics of freestyle wrestling, and Cejudo uses his gable grip, pretzel grip and by using his forearm as well. You don't need jiu jitsu for that.

@jaws901 Well, Cejudo proudly acknowledge himself as a mastermind and genius with an extraordinary fight IQ, so he should have known better. The great ones always find a way... The submission is always there but if your wrestling and jiu jitsu isn't on the same level or the understanding of manipulating the limbs, you're basically clueless like Cejudo was...

@madgavin7568 I can clearly see that Cejudo hasn't focused on his jiu jitsu throughout the years because the gap between his wrestling and jiu jitsu is just too far away. Just look at how he controls body parts instead of finding positions for minor work, and he doesn't use the legs enough besides trips and hooks. The weird part that I don't understand is that he was showing Jon what he should do once he gets Gane down in a starting position for wrestling, which lead to Jon doing the guillotine choke, which again Cejudo hinted towards while they trained together, but Cejudo couldn't implent it in his own skills...
