@southernmomma5832 That's hilarious :-) Adesanya is a defensive counter puncher who is at his best in a long and middle distance. I would have told Whittaker this; you can't give his faints too much respect since he only lands around 4 good punches every minute. Gotta exploit him leaning back by switching stances to shorten the distance and throwing overhand punches because he is out of balance and not stationary. When he switches to southpaw, it's most likely easier getting the takedown since Jan did that the second time in round 5, and he is at his strongest base in an ortodox stance. You can't stay in front of him throwing more than 2 punches at a time unless you enter and leave with a jab to deactive his counter strikes. And you can't overextend yourself (safest way would be to throw sidekicks and attack the knees and beyond, so that you could counter him back and also move out of danger again) unless his feet aren't placed good enough and that happens when he is about to use angles and look for openings during his adjustmens, which always comes after his low leg kicks where he has a habit of moving back to long distance again followed up with moving in and out, and it's most likely in the direction clockwise, which then would be easier landing strikes against him in an ortodox stance.

Just curios about his gameplan. I would have used my jab the most to get in and out of range without getting too much at a short distance, and ONLY thrown body and legs shots along with overhand punches, and mixing it up with wrestling in the middle without getting timed.

@TheGrimNA Yes you can. There are plenty of fighters that can do that, but you need skills and a great jab for that. Canelo does it all the time. The best example would be Tyson at 5.10 with an 71 reach at heavyweight who easily outjabbed his opponents like Green, Tucker, Ribalta, Ratliff and Biggs who were all between 6.4-6.6 with 80-83+ reaches...
