I think Khabib's striking actually is quite effective and brilliant. He literally outstruck Gaethje, knocked down Conor and showed a good striking defense against Dustin.

@serendipitouscomet What?!? Khabib fought whoever was there, and the rankings change all the time. If Oliveira, Dariush and others were not busy getting beaten up when Khabib was in top 10, he could have mauled them and others as well. Not to mention that everyone ducked him including Nate, Pettis, Eddie and others...

Facts. Khabib is the best.

Khabib was just having fun in this one. He hasn't fought like this in any other fight with the spinning kicks and roundhouse kicks amongst other things. People saying that Iaquinta gave him a tough fight don't understand the 50-43 score and Iaquinta looking like 10 people had beaten him up the days after the fight with bruises all over his face and marks. But he was very tough and showed champion heart as well.

@Binmusu This isn't even an argument. Just facts. Even Teddy Atlas has spoken highly about his striking abilities, especially his great jab. Not to mention GSP and Anderson as well. And lately, both DJ and Jon have spoken about his greatness. It's a fact that his wrestling and grappling skills overshadowed his striking abilities, but he could win fights with the use of striking as well.

@STiergoofball What?!? Khabib should have won round 1 with his aggressive approach, takedown and the baratoplata. He tried to finish the fight unlike Gaethje that paniced, ran away and showed awful body language. The judges have no clue about the technical aspects of MMA. Even Tony who doesn't like Khabib at all had him winning the first round during his live reactions.

@serendipitouscomet Greatness shouldn't be limited to one or two things. Khabib's greatness is based upon him being the most dominant fighter in combat sports history. Nobody has more 10-8 rounds, and he literally never even bled during a fight. His greatness isn't based upon his 4 title fight wins and there were some harsh circumstances that also made him retire so young... He definitely retired quickly and could have done other great things but he chose to leave once entering his prime.

@Binmusu He had landed 3 more strikes by the time the fight was over, and the hammerfist punches on the ground in round 1 weren't counted. Why did Gaethje panic and ran away?!?

@Binmusu What?!? There's a big difference in significant strikes that does damage and other strikes that land but are less effective. Gaethje did nothing that changed the outcome of the fight at the end unlike Khabib that used his jab, faints, kicks and knees to setup the takedowns, calculated pressure and the momentum of the fight. Considering that Khabib had a broken toe, the mumps and was sick during training camp, he did great but would have finished Gaethje already in round 1 in a rematch if he had been more healthy.

@moea6136 Conor was the p4p number 1 and the best striker in MMA we ever had seen besides Anderson when Khabib fought him and knocked him down. This was before Adesanya and Alex were relevant in MMA unless you're a new fan...

@STiergoofball Yes, overall he outstruck Gaethje when the fight had ended. They didn't count the hammerfist punches on the ground in round 1...

@Binmusu If Conor and Khabib's 29 opponents all were scared of his takedowns, then they all should have done boxing and kickboxing instead.
