It should have been the performance of the night and not fight of the night between Max and Gaethje. Don't know why people even underestimated Max considering his granite chin, footwork, volume, boxing and jiu jitsu. And the somewhat irony in Max doing to Gaethje who is turning 36 this year what Gaethje did to a 36 year old Tony in 2020...

@coolhandjoyce9946 Jon has no plans fighting anyone else than Stipe. Jon and Jamahal can't even be compared with each other, simply different fight IQ's and Jon is basically the goat.

@rabingajmer3293 Just don't understand Dana saying that it was the best fight of the year when Max won 90-95%% of it. It was mostly one sided. Other fights on the card had more back and forth action.

@coolhandjoyce9946 Jon is going to retire soon and only wants the Stipe fight. He has literally shown ZERO interest in Tom and all other contenders.

@rithrean Max vs Gaethje was mostly a one sided fight. There wasn't much back and forth at all. I always had Max winning. People forgot that he already fought the biggest punchers like Conor, Dustin, Pettis, Oliveira, Stephens, Zombie, Kattar and others who couldn't ko him. Max has a granite chin, so you need to train for 25 entire minutes when fighting him and his pace , footwork and boxing became too much for Gaethje. Only surprised by Gaethje not using his wrestling but he decided to fight stupid at the end with a terrible gameplan, which made it easier for Max.

@rithrean Max is just a human being like the rest of us. He did indeed show a masterclass performance. Gaethje's biggest moments was the leg kick knockdown in round 2 and the knockdown in round 4, but other than that, he was slowly picked apart because of a dumb gameplan and low fight IQ. Max vs Yair, Max vs Allen, and Max vs Alex 2 were more of fight of the night type of fights. This one was mostly a one sided fight, which I expected it to be because Gaethje is turning 36 this year and his activity in the Dustin rematch and the Fiziev fight was just too low in comparison with over two years ago. But I was surprised by Trevor Wittman and Gaethje's team not doing any homework because it was obvious that they expected Max to react to Gaethje's power and being bigger than him in every aspect of the fight, which wasn't the case at all. Credit to Max' entire team because he looked stronger, faster, and even more powerful with his punches.
