@1MarkKeller ok yes, good point. So, people who opt out of M4A should still pay taxes -- no vouchers. I think they should still be able to opt out if they want, and buy private insurance on their own dime.

@robotx4242 Sure they investigate, there's such a thing as a PI, Private Investigator. Bernie's plan would ban private insurance from offering the exact same benefits as the public plan, but it doesn't ban extra coverage, nor should it. Mixed systems are the rule in the world. We keep saying "developed world!" but most of it has both public and private insurances, together. Works fine right?

@robotx4242 Ok, you are right there. Overall your analogy actually fits pretty well to Bernie's plan. We won't be able to buy private insurance that duplicates the public plan (like we can't ask PI's to do actual police work), but we will be able to buy insurance for extras (like Magnum PI provided to his clients).

We still have the pre-existing conditions rule. People who would take the public option would be those with no full time job, but enough money to pay for the option. A public option is good but it's just a patch on the current system. M4A makes a lot more sense.
