Agree the vast majority of dead among native americans were from introduced diseases.  However there were a instances of the US military intentionally spreading disease, killing entire villages, etc.  The general policy of the US was not extermination, but there were many genocidal acts and policies.   There were also many treaties intending to live peacefully side by side, dating back very early in history.  So it's not a simple thing.  The US Constitution is patterned in part on the structure of the Iroquois Confederation.   I think we should have Discoverers' Day to honor all the explorers, starting with the first people, to Lief Ericson, up to people who invaded America recently such as the Beatles.

  3. the 401k may or may not pay for retirement, but at least it is likely to outpace inflation over the long term.  Unfortunately people do not have enough money to invest, nor do they understand investment.  We need to teach econ in high school.

  6. Taking over the company sounds violent, and that's not rule of law, so it's not capitalism or any other form of economics.  It's just violence.  But if you mean take over as in, force the company to bargain, the I agree.  Free market has to include freedom of workers to not work.

  11. I don't see why that is an argument against profit sharing.  Ideally it should make the company less likely to fail, because people have extra reason to want it to succeed.
