  8.  @TB1M1  Correct, the 0.28% is the average over all ages. . It is much higher for some ages and much lower for others. . As far as I can tell, the extreme age relation is unexplained and unexpected. For every 10 years the risk ~ halves/ doubles, across the entire range of human annuation. .

  11. Agree. The case count data cannot be extrapolated to the population, because the tests were not done in a systematic randomized manner. . Cases could be off by 10x compared to true numbers -- and often have been when compared to proper random sample studies.

You have to start with valid figures -- numbers from random samples are the only ones that can be used in statistical inference to get a valid estimate with a confidence interval. . (This is for the "non-institutionalized" population, it doubles if you include nursing homes and prisons.)

  29. Ask Washington State. They have 41 per million, montana at 386. . OR try Oregon at 50, or California at 80 (and their hospitalizations are not going up so they might be extra able to help). . I'm just looking at Montana's neighbors, if people can travel further there are many more. . I do not find NBC reliable, PBS is better but you still have to check their stories against actual information.

  32.  @lyfandeth  Ok great pont! More masks. . Some people only shop five hours a month, so it would be "at least one per month." . There are a bunch of cheap, easy things to do that will help a LOT. . Masks, an actual disease monitoring program, exercise, sunlight...

  34. @Kate I really do think the virus is weakening -- but I call it "evolving to a kinder form." . Still sucks but the virus doesn't really want to kill people. If it can spread better by being friendly then nature will find a way.

  42. comparing first to second waves, most European nations have lower death rates in the second. . Most are less than 1/5th, some are 1/40th ! . (of course these are only crude and improper estimates from case numbers and deaths, e.g. worldometers, but that's all we have for most nations)
