he did not disprove, but he offered alternative explanations

Could be. They know right away when radar is locking on them, plus normal radar doesn't track them well anyway, gotta use the phased array fancy stuff

@stevenhoman2253 tbc I agree with your gist. Sagan's dictum should never be used to dismiss the unusual! But it is a useful guideline. Have you ever done a Christmas Bird Count? If I submit a sighting of a California Condor in Maine, I would need to provide unusually good evidence -- clear photos, detailed notes, names of other observers. But if I see one at the Grand Canyon, I could just check the box and it will be accepted, since they live there all the time.

I guess he's just never seen one. Or, he knows all and is keeping quiet.

I think that three of them are the Gofast, Tic tac, and Gimbal videos.

143 were apparently not ordinary things

@stevenhoman2253 I will defend Sagan's extraordinary claim. It is true if we take "extraordinary" literally -- things that are not common.

@toasternfriends3329 I saw a huge light motionless in the sky called the moon, but in a phone pic it looks tiny. I also saw a tiny flashing object that moved so fast it was gone before I could say "propane." How would that look in the phone? Our eyes are still 1000 x better than any phone camera. For one thing, our eyes can triangulate distance.

I saw this last year from our cabin in the mountains. In April, not long after dark, I watched a flash repeat every ~2 minutes for half an hour. The colors varied. I thought it was slowly moving across the sky but after it was all done, I estimated the speed... and I realized it was probably not moving in relation to the hills but the stars were moving behind it. I thought it might be a geosynch satellite but people say that those are way to high to see. This was as bright as Venus (but the brightness varied and the last few flashes got dimmer and dimmer). I went back a couple weeks later and saw one single flash in the same part of the sky.
