  2. That's not quite true. Anyone can study gun deaths, and many universities have. There was some restriction enacted on the CDC spending its own money on such a study. That's the origin of the myth. However, even the CDC released a major study on gun deaths. I'm not sure how you even tell when a gun is dead. I guess that's why they need to study it.

Now, some stories don't even bother to be truthful while lying. e.g., CNBC: "Bill Gates backed Carbon Capture Plant does work of 40 million trees."   (no it doesn't. the video itself at 11:35 says "a scaled up plant" could do that.
