  4.  @seco000  They mentioned that the US "was alone until 1942" but that is wrong. It leads to an a-historical (incorrect, lacking information) view of history. . If you are doing a report about dogs, I would suggest to not say "Dogs are cats."

  5.  @seco000  It's an analogy. . To put it plainly, the title of the video introduces a topic, US losing allies, but when they discuss this topic they say things that are patently false about that topic. .

  7.  @luxembourgishempire2826  The question was "is the US alone" not "how much did we do in the war." . "US was alone until 1942" is a strange statement that is very hard to defend historically. . The US was isolationist in 1940, but that is completely different being alone for 150 years. For example, it was difficult to invade the Philippines without the Philippines being there. .

If I were editing the video script, I might suggest "WWII ended US isolationist policy, for the most part." Instead of a blanket statement about the past, focus on the moment itself.

  9.  @red_amoguss  To me this video doesn't really go after Trump very much. However, it is shallow and often wrong. . E.g., the idea that the US was "alone" until WWII is spectacularly false. . Also, I agree the decline of American power is not just from the last 4 years. It began in 1946, most likely. That was the peak. . The president to do the worst for America's standing was GW Bush, no contest. Trump hasn't even started one single war.

We weren't alone when a nation crossed the seas and burned our capital. We wanted to be isolated but we weren't. . We weren't alone when we lost a war with Mexico to determine who had to keep Texas. . We weren't alone when we told the world "This is ours" and pointed to the two nearest continents. . The USA was not alone when we chased the Nez Perce into Canada or made treaty with the Navajo. . Yes we were isolationist in the sense of abstaining from the usual European wars. But instead, we made our own wars. . Manifest destiny was not about being alone, but about being together. . If you were editing I'm sure it would have been a better video. That one word choice -- "isolationist" vs "alone" -- makes all the difference. That, and vox's vast oversimplification with no sense of self awareness, such as, "Of course this is oversimplified..."
