Yeah, if this show were the norm, we wouldn't have Trump. They can have views like that on a good show if there's variety in the room to respond. Certainly this segment had a very Yang positive impact!

@Mermaid2261 Iceland did a nationwide random survey. 0.6% tested positive. Therefore, their false positive rate was less than 0.6%. Of course, that was in iceland with an honest government...

There is a genuine constitutional crisis there, which NOBODY not even NPR is explaining. The level of analysis is trivial, here and on NPR. At least NPR mentioned the fact Morales was running for a fourth term, which opponents say is not allowed by the constitution. But they didn't truth check. Wikipedia again is better than the news: " February 2016, a referendum was held on the question of whether Morales should be allowed to run for a fourth term; he narrowly lost.[256] His approval rating had been damaged by the allegations concerning his relationship with Gabriela Zapata Montaño.[257] In December 2016 the MAS nominated Morales as their candidate for the 2019 presidential election regardless, stating that they would seek various avenues to ensure the legality of such a candidacy.[258] In November 2017, the Supreme Tribunal of Justice of Bolivia ruled that—in contrast to the constitution—all public offices would have no term limits, blaming American imperialism and influence for the referendum's outcome, thus allowing Morales to run for a fourth term in 2019.[259]"

@aretwodeetoo1181 The force is strong in that one.

@jedimaster0667 YTB all the way! The best three candidates in recent memory, either party.

I didn't hear Yang sneering at government (only caught the second half of debate). Yang is conservative in places, an independence that is such a relief from the brain-dead party zombies of both sides. I agree about addressing the American Dream/ capitalism. It's not just automation or globalization that's swamping it. What is it, anyway? What should it be?
2
@L0rdofArk Ok, I missed the first half, i'll check it. I did see Yang on charter schools, perfect answer. Booker was also great on that. Yang's answer on money in politics was the #1 most innovative and practical thing I've ever heard on the subject, and I'm an og.

@Darke_Exelbirth "VAT does is take the money out of one of your pockets and puts it into another, funneled through the corporation's profit margins first." I think it's the opposite -- the point of a VAT is to tax BEFORE the profits/ losses are tallied. It's a cost of production, or "value added," not net value gained. A VAT will increase costs to consumers, but that's specifically in industries that are not being taxed today. Thus, it can be seen as closing a tax loophole, making the market more competitive and efficient, and reducing prices in the long run.

Rent control should probably be done locally, since the situation varies so much city to city... and even for houses in the country or hinterlands. Maybe there's a way to encourage that with national legislation and still do it locally.
2
@Rofanchu I'm continually amazed that y'all get it wrong. She didn't lie about her kids attending public school -- they did. She lied that they didn't go to private school -- because at least one of them did that also. Oh well I guess it's the age of bullshit, maybe I should just go along with it when it supports my side.

@anthonylamont6518 The Iraq War was a peak of press perfidy.
2
Nader would be great.
2
irrelevant, just like Klobu's statement
2
Agree, the news is leaving out essential elements such as lithium, and the fact that the Bolivian constitution doesn't allow a fourth term. Such wonderful news we have. Even the experts don't dish.
2
that is cool i did not know that. Go Miss!
2
I'm laughing because I never thought of Democracy dollars and it's so simple it's brilliant. Dude is a strategic thinker. I'm laughing at myself and everyone else who never thought of it!
2
@Margaret75 oh shit, sorry about that! I can see how options would be trouble in 2008, because they have time limits. Also anyone who had to sell because they needed the $. On the other hand, if you could wait a few years the stocks recovered pretty well. Wish everyone could have a cushion to avoid the worst of the shocks.

The courts in general are far better than Congress it seems. Or the Presidency.

spirals can seem like circles, except that we make a little bit of progress each time round
2
Yes, it was easy to see the media was lying to help us. Not good! That said, it is logical that a mask could in theory prevent outgoing, but not ingoing, viruses. Outgoing particles will be all sizes from large to small. Incoming particles will mostly be small, because large particles fall out of the air onto a surface rather quickly. So there is some physics to it, but the MSM was still lying and that hurt the nation.

@DianaMartin1910 In addition to support by US congressmen, I think help from Brazil is also mentioned by the plotters, but someone with more Spanish should speak to this.
2
why?
2
@stevena.simmons3203 equal pretension under law?
2
Congress could ban chokeholds with a law. The President could ban them only for the FBI and other federal agencies, with an EO since he is their boss. He has no jurisdiction over state or city cops. But the feds give them tons of $. What he did was say "No grants for your city cops unless they have certain rules."
2
and both sources are mouthpieces for politics, not really news
2
Actually, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Bob Menendez are mentioned in the leaked audio https://elperiodicocr.com/bolivia-filtran-audios-de-lideres-opositores-llamando-a-un-golpe-de-estado-contra-evo-morales/

2
he won't force, ask, or even expect them to vote for him. also 10 people won't swing anything, so it's clearly not a motive for yang. it might be technically on the line.... but any lawsuit would be a huge benefit for yang in terms of air time! so basically... yang wins either way
1
yes actually i agree. she could have been specific and aggressive, instead of vague and offensive.
1
Biden is a great example of an old style democrat to show what the party is now, instead of what it was. In other words, I agree, except that he is valuable as an example of what went wrong.
1
that's why i can only watch a few minutes of the Nightly News at a sitting

What's going on in India?

that's very inexpensive. 9b is easily affordable. it's $30 a person if all Americans chpped in.
1
Yeah but who isn't
1
I'm sure you got flack for that comment, but I agree with "responsibility to at least research the subject matters" -- because that's called respect for the truth. Comedy is funny when it's true. They don't have to go to the library, they just have to care about bringing out maybe some aspect of the truth that we miss every day.
1
@HKZ P Yeah, comedians have a ton more credibility than reporters these days, for good reason. I'm struggling to think of a comedian who's doing harm by being dumb. For mainstream news anchors, it's hard to think of many who aren't.
1
It was indeed a circus of lies, tricks and desparation.
1
I think it's four parties right now, as both the GOP and Dems are split into two. The GOP is half conservative and half Trumpish; whatever that is it's not the Bush GOP.
1
Kamala lost even with the GOP establishment on her side. Or maybe she lost BECAUSE of that. She endorsed Cheney ffs.
1
I think so.
