and another NM site, Hartley Mammoth at 37k

maybe there was a long period of wildcrafting that does not count as agriculture but was another form of highly advanced collaboration with plant and animal species
2
yup also Hartley Mammoth site in NM at 37k looks good
2
good point. there is also evidence of Neanderthal boat use i think in Crete at 250k if i recall the date correctly
2
yup and boats are really early inventions. 60k or 250k or something

were the layers intact and dated by other means to confirm?
1
how many sloth bones artifacts?
1
polynesians did come but it was ~1200AD, very recent
1
good idea, but three different materials and dating methods in the same layers gave the same date range
1
i would think microscopic examination would be able to tell the difference

Good point. Elephant and camel crossed over, why not Denisovan etc This is one idea for the Cerutti mastadon site but it is often forgotten.
1
all species extant today from bugs to bonobos are equally evolved in terms of years of evolution
1
yes that would be sort of a bayesian approach i'd like to see a graph with year on the x axis and accepted oldest date on the y, and see where the line converges. it would be much older than clovis -- probably 40k or more idk
1
there was contact with Polynesians but it was ~1200 AD, not long ago there is also a very old Australasian signal in the DNA that might be from the early arrivals

It is a fair bet that hominid occupation in the Americas will eventually be found in the 100k+ range. There are two sites now that claim such dates in CA...

Agree, that is a logical prediction based on the known mobility of the genus Homo and the fact that the land bridge has opened and closed many times in the past 3m years. Elephants got here, hominids probably did also long before H sapiens. That is if course speculation, but it is based on known facts.

Camels sailed on elephants :) the land bridge opened and closed many times in the last 3m years
