  1. Nice analysis! Perhaps we should contact the Pterodactyl Recovery Project. I also do not think it's a bird. I studied bird migration. In the 1960s, Gathreaux at LSU developed the use of airport radar to monitor migration. Flapping was very noticeable and helped ID species. Gofast shows no flapping. The 1960s machinery could detect half a starling at 10 km. I imagine the modern Navy could count the lice on a bird's ass at that distance. Birds are extremely important to pilots. Anything goose or larger can trash an engine. A 3.9m bird should be registered with the FAA.

The Gofast object is estimated at 59 mph ground speed, which is within the ability of many birds. But we have the date, location, and elevation of the sighting. As birders, we can check the bird book...

"What the f is that thing!?" says a pilot. Have pilots never seen birds? Audubon says there should be no goose at that place and time. Geese do not have the motive, means, or opportunity to be the UAP, ladies and gentle alie3ns of the Jury. Have you seen a goose at 12,000 feet in January over the Atlantic?

  22.  @konteee  Geese can fly that high, but it's the wrong season, the wrong area, and the wrong behavior. The Navy said Gofast was filmed January 21, 2015. Geese are not migrating in January. When they are migrating, they don't fly 100 miles off Sarasota. And they don't fly around at high elevation like 12,000 feet just for kicks; that is expensive. They only do that during migration. Am I wrong? I am open to evidence. But if any one of the above is true, then the goose must be acquitted.

  23.  @konteee  Sure, a stray goose, but as we add more and more special conditions, occam's razor says it becomes less and less likely. The goose hypothesis requires four unusual assumptions: 1. a lone goose (paranoid psychosis?) 2. off course (disoriented?) 3. out of season (pituitary issues?) 4. a paranoid disoriented hormonally aberrant goose that can still fly? The biggest assumption is: 5a: an entire sensor-linked carrier group gets fooled by a bird, even after sending planes to investigate. Or, your theory: 5b. the Navy is hoaxing. But if the Navy is hoaxing, isn't the simplest way just CGI? So 5b actually suggests it's not a bird, just a pixel. (PS NYU Quantum Technology Lab analyzed the flight in detail, and said 12,000 feet elevation, 59 mph. But 8,000 leads to the same objections.)

  24.  @konteee  Thanks, I do find reports of goose migration in January! Very interesting. I also discovered that there are only about 1000 migratory geese in Florida, mostly in the Panhandle. Big picture: The Navy didn't think it was a bird. Their sensors can tell. Either they are lying and it's a hoax, or it's probably not a bird. You favor the hoax theory? I agree it has to be on the short list. The Navy could be trying to hide their best stuff under cover of ET. This could be true with or without aliens. Pardon me, 'alien' sounds rude. Since I have seen some anomalous flying stuff, and my fam and friends too... I know there are non-bird items as well as birds. It's not a question of looking for proof on youtube. So it would be pretty great if this one were a Frigate Bird. It could be good for the birds preservation. "If it aint a UFO, Frigate!"

Thus, Occams razor might suggest that it is not a known object. I think it's hard to appreciate without seeing one. Logically, you are right, but if you see one they seem to defy logic...

At the end of the trail, there is only one piece of evidence that suggests it is a bird: it's in the air. However, it is at the wrong altitude in the wrong region in the wrong season with the wrong size and the wrong radar signature. Could be a Wrongo bird, which makes a living as a pirate stealing fruit from Nosuch birds in Neverland.

  67.  @luckydave328  Yup, birds are a major hazard, but only goose size and above. Engines are rated for chicken size. They test them with a chicken cannon. One time they loaded a chicken but forgot to thaw it.... 1960s weather radar could detect half a starling at 10 nautical miles. (WSR-57, 17 cm2 senstativity, cross section of starling 34 cm2). If the Navy said it wasn't a bird, it either wasn't a bird, or they are pulling a prank. I'm sure mistakes are possible but the planes went to investigate...

  71.  @keith6706  Agree on the speed. NYU revised it's estimate to 59 mph. This is within bird speed like you say. Even 100 could be, with a tailwind, as you say! However, lack of flapping makes bird unlikely and a goose impossible. Also, it wasn't migration season. At 100 miles off the coast of Georgia in January you won't find any land based birds. The lack of flapping is one of the main sticking points for the bird theory. Radar can easily detect flapping.
