  1. +Marty Mcfly r.e. your OP. Good point. I'd say we should have civilization, but should not demonize every other form of human life. Too often the term is used to mean "the good stuff" and everything else is "primitive" or barbaric.   If we keep our ancient heritage like hunting and gathering, civilization will be a lot better than if we go full test-tube and eliminate all vestige of our deep history.

I've seen research that showed the quality of health in a location declined after the adoption of agriculture -- farming gave more reliable food but lesser quality. Hunter-gatherers today live in the least productive landscapes in the world, but back in the day, they lived everywhere at far lower densities than now. Thus, far more food available to hunt and gather. One correction, many Native Americans had agriculture. However now they eat processed foods and lab chemicals... terribly unhealthy for all of us.
