Yes! The Comanche strength was leadership. They moved states away from their ancestral home, adapted horses and firearms, and (after a 7 year war) made peace with the New Mexicans that lasted almost 100 years.

@Davidp9767 As Comanche player, I propose Alliance to Great Kahn. I offer Guns and Texas as a token of our friendship.
1
Yup. They lasted as a powerful nation until post-civil war and the railroad.

The Spanish were expelled from New Mexico in 1680, and they didn't leave by accident. Soon after, the Comanches had horses, the first of the plains tribes to gain them in numbers, apparently.

@bigfootstudios7173 awesome horse and rider too

@noconaroubideaux9423 One could say the Comanche's greatest victory was the loss by Cuerno Verde to de Anza, because it led to peace with New Mexico and the Pueblos, thriving trade, and victories over them other shlubs for almost 100 years. You didn't need stirrups, you had statesmen.

Comanche held power for almost 400 years after Columbus

Yes, American, Mongolian, and European all have a common ancestor among the ANE people
1
That seems likely. Or perhaps they learned it from Puebloans or Apaches who learned it from Vaqueros. One source says they got horses soon after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680... which the Apaches helped... This is surely worthy of a movie to get the story wrong. Or maybe they saw a man could ride a horse and winged it from there.

They existed, but they changed dramatically in response to the events of the times. Comanche were in the mountains before French guns came to the northern tribes...

"Even Japan?" For sake' sake!

@Rokaize Let us not forget, this was the American Sengoku Jidai -- Age of the Nation at War. Saying they were brutal is just saying "war is hell" Yes it is.
1
@Rokaize idk that comment has gone with the wind lol. I'll just add that the Comanche were at peace with New Mexico from the treaty in 1786 for almost 100 years. Corn for buffalo kept many towns and tribes warm and fed.
1
@Rokaize Not refuting anything, just adding dimension. Comanche were statesmen and traders as well as fighters, even in this time of wars.
1
@Rokaize I agree, except that we do have to consider the domino effect. The Comanche were probably way more peaceful until they were pushed out of the mountains by tribes allied with the French and getting guns from them. All societies have times of peace, and times of chaos. This is not to blame European people, who were in their own domino games, kings and queens played for titles but the people suffered, and many fled to the New World to escape.

yes

They have a common ancestor, ANE Ancient North Eurasians from ~ 40 or 50,000 years ago. Also Europeans share this ancestor, master of the steppe tundra, tamer of wolves, represented by Mal'ta child DNA.
1
Agree, except that they could use guns if they can outrun the buff. Comanche had guns, they even sold guns to the New Mexican peasants whereas the Spanish government didn't want the peons to be well armed. Comanche supported our 2a rights before the 2a existed lol

Comanches had firearms

They only really got north to the Arkansas, they made peace with the Kiowa and with New Mexican Pueblos, and with the Ute, and with the Apache, after fighting each of them.
