@jeffthompson1869 Yeah they do say that the field view is the most fundamental description. I like it. But it seems like we keep adding fields and more fields, which is kinda baroque. I wonder if someday they will discover they are all one field... like a paper airplane is one piece of paper

seems unlikely that a kid did not throw stuff off a height, its what we did

When we don't define "force" then stuff is a force or stuff isn't a force, whatevah

which is closer

no it's time itself, because every thing slows down not just atoms or clocks.

@christopherevansanders3629 In my view, clocks do detect time. Time allows change, and change marks time. Anything that changes is linked to time. To be useful as a clock, all we need is something that changes regularly, and then we count the cycles to measure the time interval. Every thing is linked to both space and time, because everything has a place and everything changes. This is just my gut feeling, I'm not saying you must believe as I do, that would make a boring world.

@christopherevansanders3629 The first clock that people used was probably the rotation of the earth. It kept time due to conservation of angular momentum.

@christopherevansanders3629 sorry that's a bit hard for me to understand. but i think we agree on a few things. time is not a thing, it is a measure of progression. yup that sounds right.

because the earth bulges out at the equator

@brianbultitude6320 yeah good point, maybe gravity is stronger at the poles? seems like there are two effects working in opposite directions, idk which is stronger
1
what does that word "force" mean everyone saying it is or isn't a force but I have not seen anyone define what they mean by that
1
@jeffthompson1869 Ok so yeah, gravity needs two masses to produce an action or a change in motion. But so does magnetism. It needs two magnets to generate a push or pull. One magnet just sits there doing nothing.

@jflaugher The idea that science uses proof has never been proven. However there is a great deal of evidence that science uses evidence.

As the sun gradually turns into a dwarf, does it lose matter? If so then its gravity decreases.

because density = destiny
