  1. Van Halen did not re-invent the guitar. He re-invent the rock guitar. Others re-invent guitar in other musical genres. For jazz fusion that would be Allan Holdsworth, who was Eddie's favorite guitarist at a time and who I suspect he took a handful of ideas from.
