  4. I tried reading Nostradamus once. The intro explained (priestsplained?) that the translators "had" to rearrange many words and change some for interpretation because the original was in deep code for stealth from Inquisitors. I skimmed the text feeling like I still had no clue what Nostradamus may have said. Had a similar bafflement by the introduction to Malleus Malificarum.

  5. A friend of mine who practices astrology described it to me as an elaborate depiction of our position in the seasonal cycle of earth's relationship with Sol at the time of our emergence. Still not a believer, but I like that concept better than the summation of gravitational forces story. In that case, I agree with some Johnny Carson guest of my childhood (before I built footnotes with citations), who pointed out we'd be more influenced by where the doctor and nurse(s) were standing in the Obstetrics ward, than by positions of planets and constellations relative to earth, when we are born.

  6. I am more open to clairvoyance than to determinism revealed by interstellar gravity. Suppose that's why I would accept a Tarot reading from a friendly acquaintance, but not a stranger. If you don't know me from a hole in the ground, I don't want you concentrating hard about me, unless I've submitted a job application.

AND RECURRENCE, is how cycles are defined. No accounting for aptitudes and affinities, in my world view (I guess that's where astrology helps some people), but Chani's extreme quantity of detail makes me feel she could have dazzled me with brilliance, in some other field. I saw a dance video of a guy with a golden retriever who matched his every move in some elaborate choreography. My reaction: You could have had a search and rescue dog!
